November

Well now we are into the winter months!

I am having my next stocking this Friday, the 11th at 3pm HC time! It will be more of a girly themed stocking since most stuff up now is on the boyish side.

I now have a US PO box address for yarn for customs! No more worries about things getting lost in customs. :D

I am also going to have some good sales and FFS drawings for Black Friday at the end of this month. :) Keep an eye on my FB page for regular updates!

News for August

Hi everyone!

So a few things - first of all I will be having a small stocking this Friday August 5! This will be my only stocking for August as I am actually going on vacation for most of the month. I will be leaving on the 11th and setting the store to vacation mode right before I make my last post office run, which should be the morning of the 10th. I will surely be spending lots of time on the vacation knitting, so I am planning to have a good sized stocking at the start of September when I return. I may have to do a Monday instead of the Friday so that I have time to get everything ready.

I also have a sale code on right now for any in-stock knits - 'BDAY15' for 15% off your order! I will be leaving this up until midnight tomorrow, I think.

I am officially a licensed knitter for the Ian Polo Romper! I have just added the pricing information to the pricing and sizing page on the website. I have knit a couple of them already and you can see photos on my facebook page.

Alright I guess that is all I can think of for now! :)

Next stocking

I will be having my next stocking on my son's 2nd birthday, July 22! I am going to have quite a few things to put up actually, as I have had tons of time to knit and a very small customs list at the moment.

Something else new - I actually kinda learned to crochet a couple days ago! I made a couple of little flowers, they turned out positively adorable in my humble opinion ;) I could make them all day long haha! Here is one I made with Mosaic Moon 'Selah' (my favourite colourway) with a Tessa Ann button in the middle :D

I also have a bunch of yarn on the way, some from co-ops and some from spots. I am hoping to have it all in hand by the end of the month and I'm really excited because there are some great colourways coming! So I should be listing at least one or two MYMN slots. However I may hold off on YYMN for now because of an upcoming vacation in August... I haven't made up my mind yet.

That's it for now folks!

New stitches!

So since Sunday I have kind of been a knitting fiend. I made an elizabeth tunic and a pair of longies. I also learned a couple of new stitch techniques!

Feather and fan:
And bamboo stitch:

I really like them both and plan to use them more in the future :D

Now, I was originally going to post that ^^^ on Wednesday evening, but then blogger was giving me issues. So now that it's Friday I will also mention that the FFS drawing is now open for entries on hyenacart! http://hyenacart.com/knittingpie/mt/2379/79969/FFS-Custom-Slot-for-FB-fans. It will be open for one week and end at stocking time next Friday!

Getting closer

So my Hyena Cart is now up and running! I'm so happy with it. Char at QuasiCo Creative did the design and it just turned simply awesome. Check it out here: http://hyenacart.com/knittingpie/

All my pages are ready, including about me, policies, pricing and sizing, and a yarn information page to help guide shoppers in choosing the type of yarn that will work best for them.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been mostly working on customs, but I am almost through with those (for now). I will be working now on getting all the finishing touches done on the items I'll be stocking in my grand opening. Depending on when I get everything done I will be stocking either July 3 or July 8. I've gotta get it figured out within the next couple of days. :)

Long overdue update!

Hello! :)

My apologies for the long delay in updating!

My store is going to be up and running very soon and I am getting very excited! I am planning a tentative opening date of July 3 right now though that is subject to change. My store design is still in the works so don't bother looking over at hyenacart yet ;)

I have been keeping busy working on customs and creating items to stock for the opening. Here is a sneak preview of a couple things you'll see (unfinished in the photos)!

Mmmmm, deep sea linen..

Well, remember that wrap that I posted about being stuck in the washer back in, oh.... June?! Probably, since there is only one post between that and this one. Someone is a fail at updating her blog.

Anyhow, I finally got around to fixing that this last weekend. Because it did not turn out pretty. At all. I tried to sell it, no dice - it was super ugly so I understand, no hard feelings! :) I really was hating on that wrap a lot at that point. I didn't even want to look at it and I was just so disappointed that it hadn't worked out the way I wanted. It turned green in some spots. GREEN! See?

So, it has been sitting unused and unloved for quite a few months now. I actually didn't realize it had been as long as it has been. Oh well. I finally dumped the rest of my dye in the big rubbermaid, added lots of salt and water, and stuck the wrap in there. I didn't take any pictures but just imagine a big rubbermaid full of black water in my bathtub, and that is what it looked like.

After years and years (okay, one day) of rinsing, here is the result! I went from hating the wrap with every fiber of my being to loving it madly within two days. It is so beautiful now. And it is pretty much the exact colours of my deep sea fish wrap.

I didn't actually mean for it to come out as a gradation. I think I must have failed at halving the dye and had less of it, or maybe it was just more diluted to start with. But I think it works! It is still not perfect or even by any means. But at least it looks good now. :D Kai was with his grandparents so I wrapped up some teddy bears.

I had been planning to sell it but I don't think I can now. It is so crunchy though from dyeing, I think it will be joining us in bed for the forseeable future! :P Seriously, virtually impossible to wrap with. I hope it improves quickly.
